Trevor Slater is leaving FSCL

Just over 5 years ago Financial Services Complaints Ltd (FSCL) opened its doors for business and Trevor Slater commenced his role as General Manager. During those early months Trevor was instrumental in setting the foundations for the success that FSCL now is. Since then Trevor has continued to be a key part of the FSCL team.

With the company well established as a specialist financial dispute resolution scheme, the time has now come for Trevor and FSCL to go their separate ways, and Trevor has resigned his position as FSCL General Manager effective 14 August.

Trevor will not be disappearing from the financial services sector and is looking forward to his next challenge and wherever that may take him.

The FSCL Chairman, Kenneth Johnston, said on behalf of the Board, that Trevor had earned the respect of many scheme participants, in particular for his work in educating participants on the benefits of having robust internal complaints processes and how external dispute resolution works. Trevor's highly developed skills as a mediator, conciliator, educator and mentor of staff will be missed.

The Board wishes Trevor every success in the future.

Background

FSCL is an independent not-for-profit external dispute resolution scheme approved by the Minister for Consumer Affairs under the Financial Service Providers (Registration and Dispute Resolution) Act 2008. It was the first scheme to be approved and has been designed for and in consultation with the financial services industry on the principles of efficiency and effectiveness. It is governed by an independent Board with equal consumer and industry representatives, and an independent Chair.

FSCL provides dispute resolution services to participating financial service providers and their clients. The FSCL process focuses on resolving complaints through conciliation and assisted negotiation and is also able to make formal determinations which are binding on financial service providers.
